Can I take two carry-ons (book bag and light sports bag) onto a Greyhound bus?

I will be traveling on a Greyhound bus... I was wondering if I can take two carry-ons onto the bus. I will have my laptop among many other items in my book bag and clothing in the small sports bag.

I am aware of the one carry-on policy, but I will be putting my book bag on my lap. And also, this was on greyhound's website: "Laptop computers are considered "electronic items" and are prohibited as checked baggage, however they may be brought aboard as one of two allowed carry-on items."

What do you guys think? Is it allowed? Thanks so much for your help!

I just traveled on Greyhound with a large soft carry-on bag...into which I put my laptop...this I put under my seat and watched like a hawk.  Then, I also had a large purse.  I believe you should be fine.  Greyhound lost my checked bag and just found it...2 months later.  It is now 2000 miles from where I am and it is my responsibility to figure out how to get it!  So...a word of warning...if you check luggage....check on it every time the bus stops for any reason, to make sure it does not walk off.
