Can I take tylenol PM while on Vicodin?

I just got all my wisdom teeth pulled this morning at 10am and they prescribed me to Vicodin which I've been taking every 6 hours. Last one I took was at 10pm and I can't sleep for the life of me. I was wondering if it would be okay for me to take some Tylenol PM right now just so I can go to sleep? I'm miserable! :[ Some help please?

  1. There's no getting around calling a medical professional.  Most dentists and doctors have an after-hours emergency number for these purposes.  You could also go to an emergency room to get an assessment and prescription.

Unfortunately, combining medications can be very dangerous, especially when they are in the same chemical class.  Only a qualified prescriber can tell you whether it's ok.

  2. Vicodin contains acetaminophen as does tylenol pm so I am sorry you can't take two products with it in it. It is very dangerous to take higher amounts of acetaminophen and can quickly lead to liver failure and death.Vicodin is the far stronger painkiller in any case. Motrin and other ibuprofen can hwever be used as long as you don't have any gastro problems or high-blood pressure. There are other products that make you sleep available over the counter. Ask the pharmicist for the best one to take with Vicodin. Or contact your Doctor and ask for a stronger pain-killer or a sleeping tablet that doesn't inter-act with the Vicodin.

Poor you..I had my wisdom teeth taken out at one time and the pain was hideous
