You will need to check out the state requirements I would think. Probably you will need some experience working with that age group and have an interest in learning more about early childhood education.

I live in NY and the guidelines for teaching as a substitute in Public Schools only require you have a BA in anything, however a full time teacher is required to take 3 three exams and have your Master's Degree after two years of working in the system. This includes elementary through high school.  Some states honor credentials from other states. Good Luck!

I live in Ohio, and having a BA is the ticket to getting a job.  For subbing, you can have a BA in anything and get accepted.  For Preschool, they like you to have a AA degree in ECE (early childhood education) but a BA in anything will qualify you, too.

I am a director of a preschool in Pa and yes you can teach preschool if you have some experience with children.  The state requires you to have a couple of requirements to be considered a group supervisor or assistant group supervisor, which is what most schools would require their lead teacher to meet.  They include certain credits in the human services field and experience working with children  Here is a link to see the requirements of staff people.  Look for the qualifications of Group Supervisor and Asst.
