Can I tether an iPhone 3G to my laptop?

Does anybody know how to tether an iPhone 3G to my laptop. What software client needs to be installed? Is there a real risk of getting my phone bricked? Thanks!

Depends what you mean by 'tether'...?

All the management (for tunes, movies, ringtones etc) is via iTunes (as normal) but you can still access all the photos via Windows Explorer (as normal).

If you plug in a jailbroken iPhone to a legitimate copy of iTunes, it'll just 'encourage' you to download the latest update, but you can still manage it as usual.

And don't worry about 'bricking' it - you can always just restore it to factory settings and go again if you do something wrong and crash it.
