Check with DMV  do not go by paper work  people play games to get your money  I happened to me  Car paid in full and car lot did not release paper work.  after a year of requesting release, no response from car lot papers needed to be notorized  for dmv meanwhile car was wrecked not my fault.  either way I was not insured because the car was not in my name.  Take it from me  get it straight from DMV.  take  plate number to dmv and find out the status.
