Can I tow a 2008 Ford Expedition on a tow dolly?

If I do, do I need to tow it with the front wheels on the ground? You'll probably know that the transfer case is operated by a k**b on the dash, so there's no Neutral position to disengage the axles.

  1. Three ways:

First way is to put front wheels on dolly and disconnect the driveshaft under the vehicle.

Second if being done as part of a RV tow behind, is to have the Ford dealer install a kit that allows the transfer case to go into neutral using a dealer installed kit and some programming to the engine and transmission computer (and the reason why it has to be done by a Ford dealer)

Third way is right as Trey said only if towing under 25 miles.. after that , they recommend removing the driveshaft

  2. remove the drive shaft at the rear end you can with no problems take five minutes

  3. put it in 2HI and put your gearshifter into neutral.Put the front wheels on the dolly just like you would any other car.

  4. i don't know exactly how the 4x4 system on those work but to be safe i would put the front tires on the dolly and pull the rear drive line out and if the drive line goes straight to the transfer case you could tie it up make sure it don't come untied or come out or move also you might be able to find a cap to put in the transfer case so you can take the drive lie all the way out and put the cap in so it don't leak
