Question:

Can I tow a tube with my wakeboard tower?

I have a boat with a factory installed wakeboard tower. When I tow people on the tube I have been hooking the tow rope to the bottom standard hook. However, the rope is constantly in the water and splashing the riders in the face. When I hook the rope to the wakeboard tower it keeps the rope out of the water. Is it ok to tow a tube from the wakeboard tower? Can the tower take the weight of 2 people on a tube?

  1. it's probably not a good idea, it can probably take the weight of 2 people but i don't know, i wouldn't risk it.

  2. ya no problem> the towers are made to hold a lot of weight. you get a much better ride with the rope up top. and if your still worried about it your tower should bu under warrenty if its factory installed.

  3. dude its better up there it can hadle the weight trust me we put like 3 tubes on the back with like 5 ppl. its better on the tower cause you can get air and the rope isnt splashing water into ppls faces.

  4. I have seen it done but it can slowly damage your boat over time. The stress of pulling anything with a tower cracks the fiberglass on the boat by where the tower is connected. I would be more likely to try it with a boat like a malibu that has a wider tower at the base which would distribute the weight over a larger area. I thinner rope may help with the splashing.

  5. Yeah, any wake board tower can hold lots of wait.  Ive done it with three tubes with 200 lb riders...

  6. yeaaaaaa!!!!! it's awesome!
