I'm about to pursue a Master's and a graduate certificate at the same time. Can some credits transfer from my certificate program to fulfill the electives if it is at a different university?

  1. There is usually a very low number of credits allowed for transfer in any grad program...6 or 8 at the most.  Many grad schools do not accept certificate credits because they are not viewed as equivalent to graduate level course work.

The graduate school can review your transcripts and will make a determination.

Talk to your admissions counselor or advisor.  They should give you accurate information and tell you what, if any, next steps you need to follow.

    Good luck

  2. This really comes down to the discretion of the Master's program faculty. If the courses for the certificate program closely match courses that you could take for the Master's program, they may allow it. At the graduate level, transferring credits becomes more difficult.

  3. institutions all have their own policies about accepting transfer credits from other institutions. MOST grad schools do not like to accept grad credits from other universities......

You have to ask the accepting institution..... there is no hard and fast rule
