Question:

Can I transfer my Community college credits from Texas to NYC?

I want to start working on getting my degree on Health & Fitness Instruction here in Texas this Fall, but I'll be moving to New York City next summer 2009.

I'll be living in Manhattan, and the closest Community College to downtown Manhattan is Borough Of Manhattan Community College..

They don't offer any degree in Health & Fitness Instruction! That's the problem... However, they still offer the classes I have to take in the last 2 semesters. What do I have to do? If I complete all 60 credits, How do I get my degree if they don't offer it?

Sorry if I'm a little confusing and not using proper grammar.. lol It's not like I'm writing an essay. :)

  1. Well, you can ask a counselor at the college, but I believe that, if they don't offer this degree, you cannot get it if you complete your schooling at their school.  The counselor at Manhattan CC can tell you for sure.  Anything someone ELSE tells you is just guesswork.

Ask your current college if, if the MCC cannot give you the degree, but you can take all their required courses, is there any way your current college can give you the degree certification in that as your major subject upon submission of your credits from MCC that fulfill the requirements.

You have nothing to lose by asking, and maybe one of the two colleges will find you a solution.   Good Luck! -!-

  2. Are you trying to achieve an associates degree at a community college or a bachelors/masters/PhD at a university?

Either or you should talk to the schools counselor and see what transfers and what doesn't.  Hope this helps!

  3. Ask the college that you are thinking of and work with an admissionns officer through email and such to make sure they transfer. They know and have the answers, well us here on Y!A can only guess.

    Good luck!

  4. Call schools in the NYC area and see if they will take your credits. That is the only way to know for sure.

If they do not take the credits, then my suggestion for you is to stay in Texas until you have completed your degree.

    good luck!
