Question:

Can I transplant flower bulbs now?

I have several bulbs that haven't flowered this year and I think if I clip and move them to a different garden spot they may "go". Any other suggestions or advice?

  1. Dig them up, brush off the soil and store them in sand or layers of newspaper in a well ventilated, darkish place (garage or shed) - replant them in late Sept / early Oct.  Bulbs aren't generally fussy about site (a damp spot will rot the bulb though!) and should flower almost anywhere.  Lack of flowering could be that the leaves were chopped too early last year or they were overcrowded.  Good luck :-)

  2. depending on what kind of bulbs they are, they may not flower. You should wait tell fall. General across the US, a good time is late Sept to mid Oct. For the cost, maybe you should just buy some new bulbs and plant them where you want them.
