  1. Shoot, I don't have a license, period, and I've been out of the country. I just use my passport as ID.

  2. Nope, the other answerer is mistaken.  Airlines Do accept alternative I.D.   See site below to see united Airlines policy.  Then, you can call your airline and ask what they will accept.

  3. The DMV should give you a temporary driving licence so that you remain a valid driver.

When I renewed mine, they took my photo and printed it out on a receipt which I was to keep with my old (invalidated) licence till the new one came through the post a few weeks later.

But enquire with the airline directly and see about what else you could bring along to prove your ID if you're not sure what the DMV is going to do.

  4. I recently traveled with my temporary license waiting for new one to come in the mail. I went threw three airports with no issue, but at the last airport they did not take the temporary so I had to go through additional screening, really not a huge issue they just take swab samples of everything in your carry on luggage. It really only adds about ten minutes to your trip.

  5. You need a valid, government issued Photo ID to fly.. it's just that simple.  Tell them that at the DMV office and at least you will have a current receipt for the new license/ID
