Ok, just to make it clear.

I am from Serbia (which is not a member of EU, yet)

And I have Austria's Multi-Schengen Visa (which means that i can go to any country in EU)

BUT, i'm planing to take a plane from Italy to Bulgaria, and then just to transit pass from Bulgaria to Serbia.

Am I allowed to be in Bulgaria (at least in transit) with my Schengen Visa??

  1. Woo hooo Bulgariaaaa!

sorry, dont know but Bulgaria is awesomeee

  2. Yes, but I'd check with the Bulgarian embassy in your country. Just phone them.

I visited Bulgaria at Christmas.  Nice place.

  3. We are member of EU, so every country's sitizen from EU can vizit Bulgaria.

  4. In simple terms, no you can't (yet).  Yes Bulgaria is part of the EU, but it is not (yet) part of the Schengen zone, and as a result you must apply for a separate visa

Romania & Bulgaria have signed up for the Schengen agreement but measures for tightening up border controls have to be implemented before they will be formally admitted.  You can read for more details here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_ar...

  5. The Schengen Visa has made traveling between its 15 European member countries much easier and less bureaucratic.

Traveling on a Schengen Visa means that the visa holder can travel to any (or all) member countries using one single visa, thus avoiding the hassle and expense of obtaining individual visas for each country.

This is particularly beneficial for persons who wish to visit several European countries on the same trip. The Schengen visa is a “visitor visa”. It is issued to citizens of countries who are required to obtain a visa before entering Europe.

The following 15 countries are currently active Schengen Visa members:
