Question:

Can I travel to Ireland with only an identity card?

I'm from Hungary, so we're part of the EU, we're also inside the Schengen border (I know Ireland isn't).

So theoretically I should be able to go there without a passport, but what's the practice?

I'm flying with RyanAir if that matters.

Thanks in advance for your help!^^

  1. As far as I know, You'll need a passport or some very important from of identification from the Irish Embassy.

  2. It would have to be an official compulsory issue Government issued National ID card, and I think you only get them in Spain, so you would need a passport. A driving licence wouldn't count.

The only place you can travel without a passport to/from Ireland is the UK.

  3. no you cant..you will need a passport
