Can I travel to Mexico again, even if I didn't return my Tourist Card?

I traveled to Mexico last year, and got a tourist card for certain amount of time. When I came back into the U.S. I didn't return to my tourist card. I will be traveling to Mexico again a week. My question is can I get another tourist card even if I return the other one? Also, does any one know the average cost for insurace for a car and the permit for a car in Mexico (currently)? EX. 2007 Nissan Altima.

If my brother has a permit of his car, can he still be allowed to travel to Mexico even if he hasn't return it? Can he receive a tourist card?

  1. I live in Mexico with an American car and have ins. for it for $300. usd a year!  Sort term ins. for just a visit  will notr be as good a bargain, but cannot be bad. try site below.  Be ABSOLUTELY  sure to turn in car permit before leaving Mexico.

  2. I seriously doubt not returning the tourist card will be an issue. They give you the forms on the plane and get the card at the customs / immigration station at the airport. they are shuffling tons of people thru and Ive never seen a computer terminal close by to even run you through. Seriously - no worries. I can tell you that this time you will not board a plane on your exit w/o giving them the card. things have changed on that respect. By land / car probably the same deal - no worries - just dont lose and turn it in this time.

Mexico wants your tourist $$$ especially when comming in - they dont check really. I guess they figure the American Gov't did a check on you before issuing your passport ?

Car insurance - pricey - expect $300 a month. Permit and all other fees probably another $100 or so dollars so I would plan on around $500 to get your car into Mexico. Just a good guess.

  3. Just throw away you old card it is worthless and no one knows you did or did not return it. You only return it if you fly out of Mexico. I travel back and forth alot and use the same one for 6 months and then get a new one. The people who issue the FM 1 dont know anything about you.

How did he get the car out of the country without turning in the permit? But, that also is not a problem since obviously the car is not in Mexico, right? It costs 11 dollars and they put it on a credit card. The card and the title and ID have to be exactly the same, and the card has to be a realy credit card. Not debit/credit....

Insurance varies, but I would advise you to get it in the states way before you get to the border. Contact your provider now or do a search....   Good travelling!!!
