I'm Panamanian but I have been a USA resident for the last 7 years, I haven't seen my mom and brothers and sisters for that long. I had a baby and is her first granddaughter so I want to go and visit with my baby for 2 months and one week. But my Panamanian passport is expired, so I was wondering if I can leave USA with the expired passport and a green card and once in Panama I can renew the panamenian passport so i can re-enter the USA. Is this possible?

  1. Actually, You CAN'T travel anywhere, where a International ID is required with an expired passport

  2. No, now that you are a US citizen you need a US passport to reflect this.

  3. I doubt it.  See, the whole purpose for having a passport at all is to travel legally, and, once it is expired, it is no longer a legal document.  That's why it has an expiration date, so you know when to renew it.  And if you are living in the US (or any other country, for that matter) and your passport is expired, then I think, you may be living here illegally.

You don't have to go all the way to Panama to renew it.  You should be able to get it through the mail, at any rate (although I figure that MAY have to be done while the passport is still within its expiration date.)

Contact your nearest Consulate or the Embassy for Panama.  They will be your best contact.  They should be able to renew it for you.

    Good luck!

  4. No, you will not be allowed on an international flight with an expired passport.  You can call your airline to confirm this.  You can apply for a new passport at the nearest embassy or consulate of Panama in the U.S.  See site below for list of the consulates...scroll down below the graph for contact info for each consulate.  Also see 2nd site and read paragraph on "International Travel".

  5. No
