Lived in Canada for 30 + years (just getting my Citizenship now),

but I might need to travel to the States. I can get my UK passport, but can I enter the US and more importantly, re-enter Canada with my UK passport, no permanent resident card, and my driver's license?

I would be flying and I am a legal landed immigrant, who is married to a Canadian.

  1. Mark R's answer is spot on, he forgot the waver will cost you some money and you should be able to purchase it at US Customs.  I did but then I was driving.  Make sure that you have some US money as they didn't accept anything else.  Canada customs should have a record of your landed status but it always helps to bring the paper work.

  2. Yes, you can enter the US with your UK passport. You will need to fill out the I-94W green visa waiver form; one part the US immigration officer will retain, the other part will remain with your passport and you must surrender it when you leave. (Failure to do so may make you inadmissible to the US in the future.)

However, you do need to have your PR card with you when you return to Canada to prove that you are a Canadian permanent resident. Without it, or some other kind of proof of your status, you may have difficulties returning to Canada.
