Can I trust U-Haul's equipment for cross-country travel? I am moving across the country using U-Haul's 14ft. box truck and car trailer. I heard some people say they never had any problems and some say they had poor equipment resulting in break-downs. Opinions?

  1. I helped a friend move from Chicago to Seattle with a Uhaul.  We also towed a car behind with a trailer.  Didn't have a problem with any of it.

I would drive it around a little first and check to see that everything is ok before you head out.

  2. No because maybe some have started to replace their equipment the bulk have done nothing at all, from incompetent people working there to bad tires, they have so many safety issues that go unchecked that I wonder how they stay in business..

  3. As a U-Haul dealer for the last 5 years, I have heard a lot.  In the last two years, U-Haul has replaced a lot of their trucks with new ones.  I don't hear the complaints about mechanical problems like I use to.  Now if something were to go bad, they have a roadside assistance number to call. Good luck and have a safe move.

  4. id made the trip from east coast to west three times with them no problems what so ever but you never know you know....... thing is just make sure the truck is a good driving truck and shows no signs of oil leaks and the tire are good looking shape.. and after you start driving it dont feel  right take it back and ask for another dont wait and hope it will get better...... tennessee to las vegas and back four times

  5. yes you can,and if your towing a vehicle, providing that your a decent driver you should have no problems,i have lived all over the country and i have always used u haul.grant it like any machine sometimes they are liable to break down but,u haul is very reliable in my book

  6. Yep, they're reliable.  If you do happen to have a problem

they have arrangements to have a mobile mechanic come to
