  1. ya, but it'll hurt, BAD

  2. you will want them..or you will have floor burn.

  3. well you can try out without any but in order to play in a match you will probably want some cause you might hurt your knees!!!!!    i played volleyball for my school and i came to a practice and my knees hurt but the next day i got some !!! you could borrow!   :~)

  4. Kneepads are really good, but since you are a guy I guess your knees are stronger that girls and you are more used to falling and being rough.  If you stay low to the ground it will hurt less.  If you are a person who slides to places(which is a bad techniche) then you will want them.

  5. for a tryout it depends. if it is a very competitive volleyball team then yes you will need them because coachs will want to see how you can dive for a bal and pancake a ball and without kneepads that would be extremely painful and it would leave floor burns on your knees. its not fun.

no matter how you fall you will hit your knees.  and diving for balls shows the coach that you are aggressive and a good player and want to be on the team because your pushing yourself.

  6. You'll definitely want them for tryouts.  You will want to show your ability to jump & slide for the ball, and without the kneepads, it's going to hurt a lot!

They should be easy to find...get yourself down to the sporting goods store this evening, if tryouts are tomorrow.

If you can't make that happen, talk to your friends.  If one of them would be willing to share during tryouts, you might be able to use theirs as long as the coaches don't have everybody on the court at the same time.  Also, one of your friends might participate in another sport that uses similar pads...you might be able to use these on a temporary basis.

  7. Sure you can, but is this the first time you are trying out?  If so, your knees might get a little sore.  I've played volleyball since 15 years and only wore knee pads when it was required.  I've never liked the feel.  There are many ways to dive with out burning you knees.  The coach should teach you guys how.

  8. they won't kick you out of tryouts, but you will need them fast. your knees will take a beating if you dont protect them.

  9. yea you dont need them. Ive been on varsity for my high school for two years and i dont use them. Personally i think they get in the way and are uncomfortable

  10. personally i would wear kneepads. But if you know how to dive properly you know that you shouldnt need them for that purpose but they are a very good precaution to take. But just to let you know some teams require them

  11. yeah but when u dive it will hurt

some volleyball players don't wear knee pads at all.

  12. No, you don't need them. I never wore them at all. I felt that they got in the way and created bad habits. I always saw everyone sliding on their knees to get the ball instead of running to get there in time or doing a proper dive...after that I ditched the knee pads and practiced on footwork and proper technique while diving.

You may get some dings at first but you'll learn quick. Good luck.

  13. if ur trying out at school, then u may want to ask if they have any u can use until (and if) u make the team.  but if u can get some they would help a lot!

  14. you would definatley want knee pads for tryouts. if you dont you could have sore knees for a while.

  15. yes you will i have been in volleyball for 4 years you will need them because you will need to do things like digging and it helps your jumps also you will be sliding a lot and it protects your knee and last you'll have to do tumbles

  16. i wouldn't say your life depended on it but they're important if you want to walk away with skin on your knees a lot of people just see if they make the team and then buy all the gear and that's totally understandable. but i would say get the knee pads then get the rest of the gear you'll need them first.

  17. Yes, I would get some for tryouts. You want to have them to be able to show the coach, that you are agressive, that you will go after the ball and not just stand there and look. They will see you being agressive, you getting down on your knees to get that ball. At my first tryouts in 7th grade I remember some girls not having them and they had to let the balls hit the floor because they didn't have any and they ended up getting cut from the team. They want someone who will be agressive,a good server, and wanting to play. There is more exact things they want, but that is the most common, or at least for our coaches that is what they wanted.

  18. if this is your first time playing, then i'd recommend it. you have to dive and slide and land on your knees sometimes and it hurts without the kneepads.

best get them from modells or d**k's sporting goods or even nike. nike has nice but expensive ones

  19. I know what you mean.. my coach at my school told me I should better wear them... but I don´t like them.. so I always play without them... 6 years now.. and I don´t have any knee ploblems... and nobody said to me.. sorry you are not gonna play in the team because you didn´t wear them.. no...

So maybe wear them for the tryouts if you want to.. and later you don´t need to if you don´t want to ... its up to you..

I can play way better without them as with knee pads...so its up to you..
