Can I turn an ordinary drawet into a file drawer?

I have an old Rolltop desk. Great condition. However he drawer i want to use is not as wide as a normal file would be. Its Narrow and Long. Dont have dimensions at this time. Can you get them to hang the opposite way in a drawer like this? Do they make something like that, so i can install it myself?

Bottom line, I need to get organized. It's going to be a lot of work too! LOL

Try the links below for file hangers you can put on any drawer, this is from a company that has all kinds of terrific hardware beyond the usual stuff. I've used them for many, many years.

File drawers get really heavy, will you be able to handle the drawer once it's loaded with files? Something to think about.

They make a metal rack for hanging files that you can get to fit in the drawer. It is adjustable and you will need to cut off the extra rod length. It will fit into most deep drawers and will have the files hanging so that the length runs front to back.

You can get this at most good office supply houses and it cost about $20

You can get a plastic boxes made for this purpose (Staples, Office Depot, etc.), put hanging file folders in it/them, then put them in your drawer lengthwise. If it's long and deep enough.
