I have a Netgear WGR614v6 router. When I set up file sharing, windows gives me the option of printer sharing. Can I set something up so that all the computers in the house can print through this router? We have XP, Vista, and Mac OS X Leopard.

  1. You would need either a printer connected to one of the computers set up as shared, a wired network ready printer connected to the router, or a wireless ready printer to do this. The router can not act as tghe print server, but can connect ALL your equipment as you require.

  2. the host computer will do this for you, so you don't have to setup the printer for the wireless network.  Meaning when you want to print all you have to do is link to your host computer ( the computer that runs the network ). and then click print.  The biggest problem most people have is they don't have the file for the printer in the shared mode.  Just list the printer in the shared folder and then any computer in the network can print from one printer.

  3. yes in a manner

if the computer attached to the printer is set up with the printer as a "network printer"  in the printer setup , the other computers have the printer software installed as well , and the number one computer is turned on that computer in its way is the print server

an easy way to setup the shared printer is with some software called network magic
