Question:

Can I unlink a Group I started on Verizon Yahoo to a separate Yahoo account?

Verizon really messed up my email account, and so all subaccounts were lost, and the Verizon Yahoo connection is really flakey. I started a Group under Verizon Yahoo, and I was wondering if I could create a new Yahoo account totally divorced from Verizon, transfer the Group Ownership to this new account, and move all old messages and users to the new group. Then I can try to get Verizon to start over. As it stands, the listserv is in danger of being wiped out by some "fix" Verizon implements.

  1. To create a new Yahoo account totally divorced from Verizon, just go to http://groups.yahoo.com/ and click on the (small) Sign Up link near the top-middle of the page.  Then follow the directions on the resulting page, without mentioning that you're on Verizon or connecting this new account to any other account.

After you finish that process, log in to this new Yahoo account, and join the Group as an ordinary member.  Then you can transfer the Group ownership to this new account if you can log in to the old Verizon Yahoo account one last time.  After you log in to the old Verizon Yahoo account, go to your Group and click on the Members link on the left-hand side of your Group's web page.  Then find your new Yahoo ID in the list of members.  Click on the pencil icon or Edit Memmebrship link for your new Yahoo ID.  Then click the Change To Owner link near the bottom of the resulting web page.  Then follow the directions on the next web page.
