Can I update my driver to run DVD-Rs if its only a CD-R driver? If so how?

If the drive is a CD drive then you can&#039;t, you need to buy a dvd drive to read dvds.

Take a look at your device manager.  (Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager)  Look under dvd/cd-rom devices.

If your drive is a cd writer then it can only read and burn cds.

If your drive is a cd writer/dvd player then you can play dvds and play or burn cds

If your drive is a dvd/rw then you can play and burn both cds and dvds.

You must purchase a DVD-ROM drive.  You need a different type of laser to read DVD-ROMs.

if you dont know much about them get an external one much easier
