I have used B20 for about 5000miles with no problems, then I moved up to B50 and have been using it for over 10000 miles no problems with it either. I want to switch to B100 because I can make it so cheap but I do not want to mess up my motor I make a living off my truck. So if any advice on what I can do would be great.

  1. you need the proper conversion kit. There are also dual fuel kit. Check out greasecar.com You should start it on regular diesel and then switch to biodiesel when it heats up.

  2. It should work fine.  I assume that you have a cheap source of the stuff; on the open market, it typically costs more than fuel out of the ground.

  3. One problem is going to be the morning starting temperature, so, it may depend on where you live.

If in Phoenix, probably OK, but if in the rocky mountains, might be too cold in the AM starting.., as the biodiesel likes to gel when too cold.

If you have dual tanks, you could have B100  in one and B50 in the other for cold weather.

  4. How is your engine oil tolerating this change?  Some people report tremendous oil thickening using biodiesel.  Perform used oil analysis at regular intervals to ensure your engine oil is OK.  As an Amsoil synthetic lubricants and filters dealer I get asked about biodiesel alot.  I have a customer making his own fuel from restarant oil and running it in a 2007 Duramax.  He has the added issue of 2007 emissions quality oil (API CJ-4) and a Diesel Particulate Filter.  He is running Amsoil DEO 5W-40 synthetic API CJ-4 Diesel Motor Oil http://www.amsoil.com/lit/databulletins/... and an Amsoil bypass filtration setup.  He has not performed his first oil analysis yet, but that will tell us what is going on in the engine.

    Good luck!
