Question:

Can I use Crest White strips when I have two bridges?

I have a bridge on my upper front laterals. I really want to whiten the surrounding teeth because they are beginning to become a shade darker than the bridges. My cousin mentioned something about it the other day and it is really bothering me. I would rather not get new bridges, because it is a pain and extremely expensive. Help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. If you are only concerned about the surrounding teeth then you can try the white strips.  The bridges will not change color.  The whitestrips should not damage your bridges if they are made out of conventional materials common in modern US dentistry.  If you had them done outside the US I can't comment on the materials.  If you are still unhappy with the color you could try in-office bleaching at your dentist's office where they will concentrate on the teeth you wish to whiten.  good luck

  2. I was told by my dentist NOT to use any whiteners of any kind on crowns...which is what your bridge is attached to. I had asked incase my crown started to discolor which he said it wouldn't but warned not to whiten my teeth either since my teeth would then not match my crown.

I would suggest buying a Sonicare because it will remove plaque and whiten your teeth naturally and they will feel so much better as well.

As always when in dought...call your Dental Office.
