Certainly not, and it is fortunate, not unfortunate.  The FAA gives no credit for PC based flight simulator experience for any purpose whatever.

PC based simulators give you a completely false impression of what it is like to fly an airplane, and are of absolutely no use in flight training except as a cheap way to learn instrument approaches after you already have 100 hours or so of actual flight time.

To find out what I mean, go out and do an introductory flight at the nearest airport where the FBO offers flight training.  In the first 30 seconds you will see why your simulator experience means nothing in terms of actual flight.

Learning to fly by playing FSX or FSYYYY is like learning to water ski by rearranging the shoes in your closet.  Go fly!

You will have to upgrade to FSX,( http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsim... ) go through the lessons, then email the FAA with the results.  ([e-mail])they will mail you a pilots license. Be patient, it might take a while to receive as there are so many people doing it this way. Allot easier than   the traditional way of using a Certificated Flight Instructor&  a real airplane!. The down side is that the FEE is $2,000

No, microsoft flight simulator is not an FAA approved flight simulator. if you want to get a license, go to AOPA.com and look up flight schools in your area.
