Can I use H06 insurance coverage?

This is for my townhouse that is being rented to a tenant.

The association has a blanket policy of $839K for 8 units and the appraisal for my unit only is $167,100. How much my blanket policy should cover?

Or do I have to use DP3 insurance coverage?

  1. HO6 only applies to the owner.  Your tenant is responsible for their coverage on their personal property.  You can get a DP3 with like $5000 on the dwelling and you can get some personal property coverage.  This policy will also cover your liability.

  2. you cant use an HO6, thats only if you live in it.  contact an agent and get it put on a commercial package policy.  this allows you a LOT better coverage than a DP policy and it will allow you high limits of liability and the rates are usually a LOT lower.  you get much better coverage for less $.
