Can I use IE7 without the google tool bar ?

Just got a new laptop and it already has the google tool bar installed. Can I get rid of it?I can't even bookmark a website without having a gmail account.And I don't want one.Other than installing firefox, any ideas/ opinons ?

you don't have to uninstall just type your fav such as yahoo and choose it under internet options. mine came with google also, i use it as a second home tab! if you want yahoo just type it in the address bar and then hit internet options and make it your home page! you can simply switch back by hitting the default in the same place.

I think you have to controll pannel then install/uninstall. There will be a google utility. Strike it down with all your hate! Also you can go to the toolbars in IE7 I'm sure there's a show/hide option.

I agree with the other answers but you don't HAVE TO use Google's Bookmark function - if you press Ctrl+D in Internet Explorer, it's own 'Favorites' menu comes up - also accessible by clicking the yellow star at the left of the tabs (just below the 'back' arrow.)

About Firefox - I prefer it to IE because of the number of add-ons available: 'Greasemonkey' scripts, Adblocker etc.

If you right-click the bar, it should give you the option to turn it off.

You can also click

Start->Control Panel->Add and remove programs

Select google toolbar, and click uninstall.

Quick fix is to right click anywhere in the top unused part of the browser  like to the right  of the HELP button then deselect Google.

Goto ADD/REMOVE Programs and uninstall it(for XP). It gets installed by default with alot of apps like Java and Flash Player. You have to choose custom/advance install to have the choice to not even install it.

Yes you can.

you can right click on toolbars area and uncheck google toolbar

or disable the whole thing from Tools>Manage addons
