Question:

Can I use Ikea wooden slats to support a Tempur-Pedic mattress?

I have a "Classic" Tempur-Pedic mattress supported by a traditional box spring, and my back is killing me. My research tells me the mattress needs to be supported by a perfectly flat surface to work properly. I've used these slats before and they are extremely firm, though not perfectly flat.

  1. If you think the box spring is allowing your mattress to sag, try placing a piece of 1/2" plywood between the two and test that.  If that doesn't provided the support you are looking for, the slatwork will not either.  You will need to change your mattress.

I have enjoyed my Select Comfort Sleep Number bed for several years, and would recommend to anyone looking for an upgrade mattress.   And I do not have mine on a box screen or "foundation".  I have mine on a plywood deck.

  2. It sounds like that is just not the right mattress for you... go into a store and try out some others and see if that is the issue...
