Can I use TomTom car Gps on a boat?

I know it wont like tell me detailed stuff but I am wondering if I can get an idea of where I am from the map on the gps

  1. Yes, you can. The company also sells marine base maps to show the topography below the surface.

    I recommend converting your base map temporarily to a maritime setting, this way you will be able to see where you are located relative to the land, as well as the surface beneath you.

    OR

    If you want an all time GPS for your boat, you7 should buy a hand held from Garmin. They sell a plethora of base maps to suit your need.

    The one you have should be able to work even without the other base map, it just will not be very detailed.
