  1. You can if on holiday, if you intend to stay, take lessons, our rules are VERY different to yours.

Buy a copy of the Highway Code, it will give you the Rules of the road.

  2. Hi,

There is a reciprocal agreement. between the UAE & the UK.

If you have passed a UAE driving test, your licence is valid to drive in the UK for 1yr, before having to take the UK test.

Conversally, a qualified UK driver can pick up a UAE licence, which should be done, which lasts for 5yrs.

So you are OK on your UAE licence, for 12 months from entry to the UK.

    Bob

  3. If you're a resident of the UK then you need to get UK licence.

  4. If you are the holder of an full ordinary driving licence (car, moped, motorcycle entitlement) and provided your licence remains valid, you may drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and with up to eight passenger seats for up to 12 months from the date of coming to GB.

If you intend to remain here as a resident, within that period you must obtain a UK provisional licence and take and pass our driving tests.  During this period, you are not subject to provisional licence conditions eg displaying 'L' plates or being supervised by a qualified driver or being precluded from motorways.

However, if you do not pass a test within the 12-month concessionary period you will not be allowed to drive as a full licence holder and provisional licence conditions will apply. If you do not apply for a provisional licence within the first 12 months you must stop driving and obtain a British provisional licence with a view to passing a driving test. Provisional licence conditions will then apply.
