Never been Skiing before, I have a lot of UnderArmour items. I would hate to purchase base layer clothes, when I could just use the UnderArmour which I already have. Both long sleeve shirts and pants, thanksss

  1. Yes, under armour works really well when skiing. I would wear under armour, and if it's a colder day then put a second layer over that, plus your jacket.

  2. since you already own it, yeah, it'll work. for the price though, I wouldn't go buy it cause it ain't all that,

  3. I think that you will be okay.  How warm you are depends if the Under Armour is cold gear or warm gear.  I wear UA warm gear pants and they work great.  They are light and they keep me warm.

  4. definately!

  5. I work at a ski mountain and have cold weather ua and it works great no matter how cold it is.  Just make sure you don't wear any cotton as a base layer.  You want the wick material so when you sweat it doesn't just soak.  Enjoy your ski time

  6. As long as it is synthetic (not cotton!) and wicks sweat, it will be good.

  7. I ski 2-3 times per week and I wear UnderArmour ColdGear shirt and pants every time.  I wear either a basic thermal shirt on top of the underarmour or an element zip hoody with a removable hood, depending on how cold it is (my jacket is an outershell jacket with little insulation).  I wouldn't recommend wearing a cotton hoody.  If you have a jacket with a lot of insulation, just the underarmour should be fine, or you might want to wear a t-shirt on top.

Depending on which ski pants I wear on top of the pants, I wear fleece pants on top of the underarmour (when I wear my light outer shell pants and when it very cold or windy.  I get cold easily when the sun isn't out and when it is windy, so i would get cold if I just wore the underarmour pants with my outershell pants.  My dad only wears boxers under his ski pants (old style tight and light outershell)

If you have ski bibs (the ones that are about $30-$40 with a zipper and straps and with insulation) you should be fine with only the underarmour under it, unless it is very cold or windy or you are sensitive to cold weather.

most people who have never gone skiing usually wear cheap $30-$40 ski bibs and what ever is comfortable under it for their first time.  I have a pair of them that I got when I was a beginner and i still wear them sometimes. when i first started skiing with them i wore sweat pants underneath.
