Can I use Vonage telephone adapter with another provider like joiphone?

I don't think so, at least not easily.

Vonage supplies preconfigured and locked voip box.

Best I can tell, even JoiPhone only supplies preconfigured and locked voip box too.  They don't provide any information about BYOD (bring your own device).

There are numerous VoIp services that are more user friendly in terms of BYOD, softphones, and pay as you go for testing their services.

Try buying your own unlocked ATA, like the Linksys PAP2T.

Then test various VoIp services that allow BYOD, such as InPhonex, CallCentric, SipPhone, IdeaSip, les.net, voip.ms, and various others.  

Most of these services do not lock you into service agreements and let you pay-as-you-go without obligations or contracts.

Those providers that have their own box, for them you can't use any other adapter than the one from their company.

usually not as the device was made for the vonage modem . check to see which one joiphone takes and compare. come to think of it I think mine is a Motorola that vonage sent me so it is worth checking to see. good luck
