  1. Yes, just cut them in half or quarters coat them in oil and season cook at 300-350 for about an hour ( at least till they are fork tender)

  2. Of course you can!  Some potato purists would tsk-tsk on the texture but I find that I enjoy the texture of all potatoes used in every application of cooking.  I have even used red potatoes to mash and didn't mind them cooked this way one bit.

  3. Any potato can be baked in the oven.  The only difference is that bakers potatoes have thicker skins.

  4. Cut them into chunks or wedges.  In a gallon sized ziploc bag, toss potato wedges with some olive oil & seasonings you like to fully coat.

I like to use Montreal Steak Seasoning or Parsley & Salt.

  5. i use white potatoes for everything! go for it.

  6. You can bake any type of potato, but if the white potato is a new/waxy potato variety then the baked potato will not be fluffy like Russet.

If the white potato is a waxy potato, I'd suggest cutting the potato into cubes, drizzle a little olive oil and seasoning (salt, pepper and a little garlic powder) and baking.  The results are more akin to home fries where the potato will hold it's shape.
