I understand that burnable downloads from Yahoo! Music aren't directly compatible with iPods. I contacted Y! Customer Care to ask about converting their WMA music files into a format that works with iPod, and their response said that's not possible.

Can I use the Windows Audio Converter that's available through Windows Media Player 11 to convert a WMA file into an mp3 file for use with iPod? After converting a WMA file into mp3 format, is there another conversion I will need to do; if so, please explain the process. If I need additional software, I'm only interested in software that I purchase from a software maker with a name that would more likely than not be familiar to a person who is learning to convert such files for the first time. I prefer to buy the software on disk in a store or order it for delivery. I'm not interested in downloads from peer-to-peer sites like Limewire, or from any company who hosts a site or produces software that enables illegal downloading.

  1. There are many conversion programs; you don't need to use WMP.  Have a gander at this article:

  3. as long as it will convert it (mines been having some probs) any uncorrupted mp3 should play on an iPod (besides lossless) good luck
