Can I use a Canadian cel phone in Puerta Vallarta Mexico?

I will be there for 3 months and need a way to keep in touch with others who are spread out all over the city but don't have computer skills. So if you know the best way to get cel service let me know

You can use your cell, but you will take roaming charges up the ying yang.

You should be able to use it.. but call your cell company and ask about an international roaming plan.. because if not.. I think it's like over 1.00 per min.. gets REALLY expensive.
