Can I use a Centro by using Wifi and my home DSL service?

I don't want to buy a data package, so I want to know if the Palm Centro can surf the net and send email using my home DSL service IF i need too. I would like to have a phone/PDA, but I never use the internet with my present phone, so don't want to buy the data package if I never use the net ...
