if combat arms is on the PC, then you should be able to. First, plug in the controller, and make sure it works by checking in your control panel. Then, when you set the controls in the game, instead of pressing a key on the keyboard, press a button in your controller. Also, there might be an seperate option for controls, it would be a little window that says "keyboard." You can change that to your controller.
