Can I use a USB pen drive to store anything..?

Question

My computer only has 5G hard drive space free. A lot of it is taken up with music. Can I transfer music to a pen drive and store it there..? What sizes do they come in and are there issues regarding storage..? Thanks.

You can store any type of data (movies, music documents, ect), and the advantage of a pen drive is that it can transfer data between so many different computer operating systems because of the way it is formatted.  I use mine to move stuff between my PC and my roommate's mac all the time.

Yes, I agree with the other poster.

They come in many different sizes.

I suggest a BRAND name manufactuer and you should still back up your data to a DVD ROM. Its rare but flash drives can go bad. You could lose all your data if lost or corrupt!

They come in anything from a few megabytes to 32 gigabytes. yes you can store music there. But to be honest, if you already have 5gb, you might need more than 32 down the road. I would just get an external hard drive. I have one that is 150 gb. Its just like a pen drive, but not small so you cant put it in your pocket or anything, but obviously you can store more on it.

Yes, you can transfer pretty much anything to pen drives. Music, images, Microsoft office documents, programs or anything. You can get different sizes - from 128MB to over 8GB

I've never had any problems with pen drives - I find them very useful.

Edit: Yes, your PC should recognise it as a storage device. It doesn't need any software - just plug it in and the PC will do the rest
