I'm looking for a new cell phone, and I love the new iphones and blackberrys. The only thing holding me back is the internet service on these phones run $30 a month. I already pay $40 a month for my home computer. Can I cancel my home service, and use a cell phone as a modem? If so, which phones do you like best?

  1. It will not save you money to tether your cell phone for internet usage. The service will add to your monthly cell bill and they charge buy the amount of kb's downloaded.

Stay with your home service. In case you didn't know tethering is a term used, to use your cell phone as a modem.

    Good Luck!

  2. no you may not

  3. You can use a cellphone as a modem by tethering it to your computer via cable, irda or bluetooth but I wouldn't recommend it. If you want a cellphone modem to be your primary internet access then you should be aware that it's going to be slower than mud oozing down a hill. It'll be about one third or one half of dialup speed.

I don't know about Blackberry but you can't tether a iPhone to your computer. The iphone just doesn't have the software to do it.

BTW, you don't have to subscribe to the data plans for those phones if you don't want to.

  4. No i am sorry =/. And i happen to really like the iphone but that is like 90 a month at minimum and i am not sure if you are willing to pay that much.  The blackberry you don't have to get internet on in AT&T but if you have verizon then you have to =[
