I have several and worked in Asia, and you need to go to an Asian housewares store and buy a defuser, it looks like a metal screen and you put in on a gas burner and it allows the bottom to heat evenly, if it is one with the wire cage it is more stable.

And with the oven, I do not cook anything over 350 d F, slower in the 300-325 range.

No. I had a terrible experience because I was stupid enough to ignore what everybody said- the pot shattered and there were shards and food everywhere.

It needs to go in a relatively cold oven and then warm up as the oven heats up so that it doesn't crack. I know you can use coals/open fire, but I'm not sure how.

That kind goes in your oven, where it will heat evenly.
