  2. Most of the time the professors will not even notice, not care or won't mind. You can talk to the professor before/after class or email him/her to double-check. I think it would be a rare case if a professor actually said no. I have a friend who uses a digital recorder and I would recommend sitting up front if it is placed on your desk. OR you can talk to the professor and ask if you can place it on his/her desk or podium during a lecture.

    It'll help if you take decent notes and listen to your playback to hear if any particular topics were emphasized or the professor may say "___ will be on the quiz".

  3. Just ask the professor.  It shouldn't be a problem.  Make sure you take notes during the lecture.  Good luck!  (college prof)
