Can I use a piece of swedish ivy to put in the tank with my betta fish?

It will love the conditions, and so I put the ivy in there.

My betta is very curious about it, but it would bite it, then "jump" to the other side of the tank......just to come inspect it again.

Is this normal?

(fyi, i just got the fish yesterday, and is my first fish.)

and no, this is just for decoration and maybe little green will perk up the lil guy.

He seems happy, he's swimming all over the place, MUCH better than in the little cup he was in.

  1. Bettas are extremely curious and this new plant has piqued its interest.  The plant won't harm it, and it won't harm the plant, so you've got nothing to worry about.  As long as the ivy has a good foothold above the water line, it'll be great.
