  1. i really don't know the best thing to do is contact royal caribbean and ask what there policy is on phone cards and how they work but its a great question have a great cruise.

  2. Avoid using the on-board phones!  My sister racked up a $150.00 phone bill the first night by checking her voicemail from the on-board phone!

  3. Yes but you would be crazy to do so.

You would have to use the ships satellite phone to connect the calling card. You would therefore be paying the ship to shore rate and the phonecard rate.

A 1 hour call may cost you $1000.00

The best idea is to find a phonecard in one of the ports. Ask the crew where is the best place to call and where to get a phonecard. They will know exactly where to go.

  4. The answer is NO.  You would have to use the ship's phone which is satellite phone service.  Prepaid phone cards do not work with that system.

As you can tell from other answers, the cost of phone calls from ships is super-expensive.  Wait until you get to a port and use your calling card from a phone on shore.
