Can I use a set top box with TV which has a broken aerial connection?

Our TV aerial input is broken, the one which is on the back of the TV, but the audio/video in sockets are all working fine..

We are thinking about buying a set top box, but do you plug them into the aerial socket, or the audio/video in sockets?

  1. Most set top boxes have a/v output as well as rf output to channel 3. I would hook up the a/v input jacks on the tv to the a/v outputs on the box because the picture quality is much better
