Can I use a standard HDMI cable for PS3?

I tried my standard HDMI cable and got no picture only sound.

You can use any HDMI cable with PS3, if youre getting audio and no video from the same cable maybe the cable is bad. or if youre getting audio from the optical cable maybe the hdmi feature its turn off or disable or you dont have the tv in the correct input.

You can, but I would get a new 1.3a HDMI cables since the PS3 supports it.

Yes,  You need to set the ps3 video ouput to HDMI.
