I need to make a 4"x48" granite backsplash 3.5"x48". Does anyone know if I could use my existing tile cutting wet saw to do this? The backsplash is 3/4" thick.

Thanks in advance.

  1. granite and marble can crack very easy if you don't know what you are doing.  take it to a stone cutting company, they normally have water saws that cut thru the stone or granite without risking as much as you would with a diamond blade.

  2. You didn t say what size of saw you had .. Even  a bigger saw w/ say a 1.5 hp motor will do it but your length is the problem.. If you can rig a flat surface for the pc to glide out onto and your saw is big enough you can do it .. Also a very good blade and go slow..If it was a marble or any  stone w/ a lot of  vanes I d say no way..Use a guide set up ..Your slide tray must be completely flat since mine and most trays have a lip to set  regular tile edge against. If you don t have all above I d go to a stone shop and have it done.. GL

  3. it will burn out the tile blade on no time. you need to take it to a marble place wherethey have the proper machinery to cut and bevel the piece.

  4. sure you can, go for it, don't force it though the saw.
