I just moved to Virginia and still have my Connecticut ID. I have a check from my employer (personal) that I need to cash. I do not want to go through the bank.

Will a check cashing store accept my out of state ID to cash the check?

Any help in the Richmond, VA area would be great!

Thanks!

  1. It depends upon the rules of the check cashing store. Some check cashing stores will issue you a chec cashing id card. If it's a personal check the answer is most likely a big no. If it's drawn on a company or a payroll check through a processer such as ADP the answer is maybe depending upon the facility.

For future reference payments made by US Postal money orders are the easiest to cash and can be cashed at any Post Office when proper ID is provided. Be warely of checks that the issuer do not want you to bring to a bank. There are many very good counterfitters out there.
