Can I use any USB cable to hook up my PSP to my computer?

Question

I heard that when you buy a psp, it comes with a usb cable and a disk. I do not have the disk or the usb cable the psp comes with. Can i still transfer things to my psp without the disk or usb it comes with?

Yes go to settings>usb and then get a mini-type b usb they are for sell at walmart you can ask there it might be at game stop. (If you have a PS3 the usb that comes with it to charge your controller will work your psp.) If your computer comes with a memory stick duo slot you can put your memory card in there and it will be the same as usb mode. If you need to know how to put stuff in your psp then go to the folder PSP and make sure its in caps when you do this everything in there needs to be caps (in the psp folder) make a folder called video or music or photo put your media in those files depending on what they are. Also  you can put files in the files like in music put another file in there called say rock. Put all your rock music in there, it will show up in your psp under music.  Hope this helps!!

yes, the cd is just a driver for upgrades or something, i could be wrong but my philips mp3 extra usb cord worked just fine.

Unfortunately you will have to buy a special PSP/USB cable. I checked on Amazon and they are for sale there and they're pretty cheap so even if you can't buy online you're bound to get them in a GameStop or something.

Yes any usb will work that you can connect to the top of the psp to the usb port on the computer. Once you connect the usb go to the first column on the XMB (Cross Menu Bar) and choose "USB Connection"

Any USB mini cable will work with the PSP. I use the one that came with my camera. When you buy a PSP you don't get a USB cable or a disc. I have both PSP-1001(fat) and PSP-2001(slim).
