i have a daisy powerline 953 air gun and it says in the manual that it is a pellet only gun but i have been using bb's and it has been shooting fine, could there be some unseen damage to my gun or is it fine?

  1. No damage it's just that the barrel diameter is a few thousands bigger then a normal BB gun meaning it wont shoot as far or accurate

  2. no damage, i should think the requirement to use pellets would be dictated by the feeding mechanism, where hop-up pistols can feed bbs easily, the breech in my break-barrel isn't tight enough to hold the pellet, so air rushes around the bb instead of pushing it down the barrel.

  3. You should only use the ammunition specified for your gun. In this instance that means .177 caliber pellets. Your gun is a single-pump pneumatic, target rifle. While using steel shot shouldn't damage the mechanism they will cause excessive wear on the rifling which will degrade accuracy because they're much harder than the lead pellets. Also because steel shot (BBs) are smaller than lead shot they won't be as accurate. Finally you may find the gun does not have a feeding/magazine system that is conducive to shooting pellets.
