Question:

Can I use bleach for colors. . . on whites?

I know you should wash whites separately from the colors, but I'm going to college and you have to pay to wash clothes.

I don't have many whites so it's not worth it.

I've washed whites with colors before and they haven't changed colors. one problem though, some of the soles of my socks are picking up the color from my shoes and that color doesn't come out unless I use bleach.

question: could I get that color out of my socks if I used the "bleach for colors stuff" on them while they're with the rest of my clothes?

  1. yeah, color-safe beach helps keep whites very white too. and if your only doing stuff like socks, than go ahead and wash them together.

than again, I've never really cared about how my socks look, and if you do, than you'd want to do them separately...

you can always handwash your whites. if you really don't have that many, than just fill your sink up with warm water, *edit* don't forget to put detergant in it* soak your whites in it for a few minutes, than just scrub them to get out any stains, and rinse them clean...

  2. You definitely don't want to use liquid bleach on colors but you can use dry detergent with added bleach, like "Tide With Bleach," etc.  It's perfectly fine to wash whites with your colors.  If you have something that bleeds, however, it will bleed into everything....you will just notice it more on the whites.  If you've had all of your clothes for a while, you'd know by now if you have something that bleeds.  If so, wash that item separately by hand.  If not, wash everything together.  One thing I do to save $$ is mix a couple of tablespoons of the ultra concentrated Dawn dishwashing liquid into a spray bottle full of warm water.  Swish it around, then use that as a prewash spray for your socks and other noticeable spots of dirt.  Works great on ring around the collar and cuffs too.  Hope that helps and good luck!

  3. Use clorox "2". It is safe for colors. Pour some directly on the stained sox.
